Latvian Mittens- 1st try

I have decided that these mittens won't count towards my birthday goal because they were just practice. This is some of the most wild knitting I have ever done, specifically the cuff.
I wasn't really sure how to do these loops, but I may have figured them out in the end. The part you see now is probably how they're suppose to look, but on the other side the loops are 2-3 times longer. Also the white and green part is suppose to be a faux braided thing. I got the first round right (which would be 1/2 of the braid) but I couldn't figure out the next row because there wasn't an illustration, so I just purled it like normal. After that things went well.
The complex fair isle band ended up being tighter because the floats were longer. I actually don't mind it because I like to think it would keep out the cold better and it gives cuff a fancy flair.

I'm most impressed by this thumb, The way it blends in because it follows the pattern perfectly.
As you can see this is an adult mitten. I made it long enough to fit my hand. But its suppose to be a kid's mitten. Yeah my gauge was that bad. I wonder how an adult mitten would turn out...
