Recently I have become interested in writing and editing. I wish I wasn't because I'm suppose to be finished with my college search.
I took a class this summer to improve my essay writing skills. It turned out to be 70% creative writing and 30% essay, but I was okay with that, because I realized I like to write. I also didn't want to become interested in writing because, as you realize from reading this blog, I have too many hobbies. But I do like reading. I even finished a short story, and I'm going to submit it to young author publishers. On the bright side writing books seems to be something I could do on the side, no matter what career I end up in (though I get the impression that as a programmer I wouldn't have much free time). That's doubly good because being an author seems like a... difficult field to be successful in, as all art fields are.
As for a editing; I'm watching Flower Boy Next Door. I know, I know, TV shows aren't the best way to learn about careers, but I feel like her job isn't as sensationalized as some other shows, because it isn't about her job (as compared to some thing like CSI). I also really love Lang-8. I like correcting people's journals and thinking of new ways to write things.
